Colby Competes in the NESCAC Final Four

Middlebury, VT - The Mules travelled to number 1 ranked Middlebury to play in the NESCAC final four.  The Mules challenged Amherst in the semifinal game today.  The team knew this would be a difficult game seeing as Amherst is one of the three teams that was able to beat the Mules this season.  The Mules fought hard and made it to overtime, but were unable to secure their spot in championship game.

In the first period, neither team was able to score similar to their previous time they played each other.  Nina Prunster had two saves for her team and the Mules had six shots on goal.

Going into the second period, play continued to be even until the Mammoths scored in the 16th minute.  The Mules tacked on six more shots with plenty of opportunities while Prunster had eight more saves.

The third period started with a quick return from rookie of the year Meg Rittenhouse with an assist from Lily Wisniewski and Anna Staton.  With the game now tied, Prunster had five more saves and the team had a total of seven more shots on goals.

Regulation time finished and the game was still tied.  The Mules would play a longer overtime period with five women on the ice, instead of 3v3 for five minutes.  At 7:11, Amherst's Avery Flynn scored the game winning goal that would send them to the final against Middlebury College.  As a team ranked 8th in the nation, Colby still has the opportunity to get a bid into the NCAA tournament.
