Mules Control Game for 81-70 Victory

Waterville, MAINE- Colby took the court tonight looking to get back in the win column following their first loss of the season to Emory. The Mules came out strong and took a 34-26 lead into halftime. The halftime lead was the same story as Sunday. However, this time around, the Mules shut down any rally and extended their lead into an 81-70 victory. The win takes Colby to 9-1 and drops the visiting Beavers to 4-3.

The Mules started hot as they led 15-4 after only six minutes. Colby then cooled off but kept a University Maine-Farmington team that converted eight first-half turnovers into 13 points from taking the lead. The Mules were led in the first half by eight points from Max Poulton, seven from Jonah Obi, and six from Jack Lawson and Alec McGovern

In the second half, Colby found their scoring touch as they hit 53 percent of their threes and were 47 percent from the field overall. While the Mules shot the ball better, they struggled defensively, allowing 26 points in the paint and committing six more turnovers. Colby was led in the second half by 14 points from Lawson and 11 points from Poulton. Double-doubles from Noah Tyson and Lawson also highlighted the Mules performance.

Colby returns to play on December 10th as they take on Bates at 5 pm.
