Brunswick, Maine- The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey Team traveled down to Bowdoin College to face the Polar Bears in the first NESCAC game of the season. The Mules won 3-2 bringing the team to 4-0 for the season and 1-0 in NESCAC competition.

In the first game of a back-to-back series against their rivals, the Bowdoin Polar Bears, Colby began the game with a strong offense but struggled to get a goal to enter the net. Although the first period ended scoreless, it set the pace for a fast game and an extremely competitive one as both teams exchanged shots and blocks. In the second period, the Mules started off the scoring with a goal at 5:56 by Abby Wick off an assist by Klara Jandusikova and Anna Staton. This goal marks Abby Wick's first goal for the season. Colby excelled on defense throughout the second period preventing a close goal with 8:25 remaining.

5:54 into the third period the Polar Bears scored their first goal bringing the score to 1-1 off what was also the first power play of the game. However, the tie did not last long as right after a faceoff the reigning NESCAC player of the week, Meg Rittenhouse, deflected a shot by Jo Tattersall into the goal. Bowdoin continued to fight back evening the score, off a second power play, with 6:35 left in the match. In the 16th minute, Stephanie Lane forced Bowdoin goalie Dani Marquez to go low and buried the puck high putting Colby back up for her second goal of the season. The game-winner by Lane kept Colby as the only NESCAC team still undefeated. The Mules have now won eight of their last nine matches against Bowdoin.
