Waterville, MAINE - The Colby Women's Basketball team took the second loss of their season today, falling to Maine Maritime Academy. The Mules faced a close defeat of 62-67, making their record 3-2.
MMA jumped out early, building a 19-15 lead after the first frame. Colby kept pace in the second quarter, tieing 14-14 to keep the deficit to four at 33-29 going into half. The Mariners also won the third quarter, pushing their lead to 51-46 heading into the final frame. The Mules were able to battle in the fourth quarter, tying it 16-16, but ultimately losing by five, 67-62.
Carter McGloon had a phenomenal game for Colby, leading the team in scoring with 25 points while also grabbing six rebounds, assisting on one basket, and blocking one shot.
Caroline Smith was next in line in terms of scoring with 14 points of her own. Smith was also great as a play maker and defender, notching seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Mackenzie Younker also had a strong performance with nine points, one assist and four rebounds.
The Mules are back in action Saturday, December 3rd, hosting Bowdoin College at 1:00 PM.
