Castine, Maine - The Colby Women's Soccer Team rebounded from a series of close NESCAC loses with a trouncing of Maine Maritime Academy on the road. They defeated the Mariners 4-0 shutting down the Mariners attack and threatening throughout the game.
Jane Maguire opened up the scoring in the 18th minute on an assist from
Kerrie Verbeek for the Sophomores second goal of the season. The half would remain at 1-0 as Colby finished with 7 shots to MMA's zero.
The Mules put the game out of reach as their shots started falling into the back of the net. Their second goal came in the 57th minute as
Kaleigh Quinn got her fourth goal of the year which ties her for the most on the team.
Kylie Thorp and
Murphy Leung each got in on the scoring with goals in the 80th and 87th minute.
The game finished 4-0 as the Mules dominated all facets of the game taking out their frustration from a series of tough losses and returning them to their winning ways. In the end Colby put up 18 shots and held MMA too not a single shot.
Three different goalies saw playing time with
MK Marshall making her debut for the Mules in a combined shutout, Colby's third of the season.
The win brings the Mules to 4-5 on the year and keeps them undefeated in non-conference play. They return to NESCAC play with a double header against Middlebury and Hamilton on tap for this weekend.
