The Mules hit back early in the second quarter with layups by Dunbar and Nebuwa, but a three-pointer and free throws by the Jumbos expanded their lead and set them on a dominant pace for the first half. The Mules once again retaliated late in the quarter, most tightly closing the Jumbos' lead when Dunbar landed a three-pointer in the second to last minute. But, the Jumbos sank another two three-pointers to stretch their lead and enter the second half with a score of 27-38.
The third quarter followed a fast pace, with both teams going back-and-forth throughout the quarter.
