Brunswick, Maine- The Mules travelled down to Bowdoin College this Friday night in the second matchup of the season against the Polar Bears. The Mules, looking to sweep the series against the Polar Bears, after defeating them earlier in the season 3-1.
Andy Beran would make his thirteenth start of the season, saving 38 of 39 shots in the eventual 3-1 win for the Mules

defensive end and would find an open Blanchard, securing a 1-0 lead early into the game. Just over a minute later,

Henry Molson in front of the net and poke the puck off the pads of the Bowdoin goaltender to put the Mules at a 2-0 lead not even halfway into the period. The Polar Bears had very good chances of their own but were not able to find the back of the net until they got a power play opportunity with just over five minutes remaining in the period and would bring the score to 2-1 heading into the second period. Beran would make 14 saves, while the Mules took six shots on goal.

In the second period, the Polar Bears continued to pester Beran with shots, but would have no luck. The Mules had one power play opportunity but could not convert on their man-advantage. Both the Mules and the Polar Bears upped the physical play, not being afraid to make strong hits on one another which only increased the buzz of the rivalry matchup. The Mules only took three shots on goal this period and were kept in the game by Beran, who once again made 14 saves in the period.

The Mules were able to maintain more possession during the start of the third in comparison to the last period, despite the Polar Bears still finding strong offensive opportunities. Just over halfway into the period, the Mules would go on the power play.
Jake MacDonald would also score his first goal of his career to put the Mules up 3-1 with a beautiful one-time shot going past the Bowdoin goaltender's right shoulder. The Mules would be able to fight off the Polar Bears for the rest of the period, earning their seventh straight win of the season.

Andy Beran would be honored with the Peter Schuh Memorial Trophy, the award given to the most valuable player in the Colby-Bowdoin game in Brunswick in honor of Bowdoin Student Peter Schuh '96, who passed away in the summer of 1994.

The Mules next play in New London, Connecticut against Connecticut College in a NESCAC matchup at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, February 1.
