Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Hockey Team welcomed Wesleyan to the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center for the second time this season to make up for a missed game earlier in the month. The Mules are coming of an 0-2 weekend against Middlebury and they were looking for a solid win against the Cardinals.
The Mules started the game strong with a power play goal at 4:01 from Meg Rittenhouse and assisted by Bri Michaud-Nolan and Captain Lexi Cafiero. The Mules settled into a dominating first period and looked to put another goal on the board. Colby averaged 10 shots per period and Nina Prunster had 20 saves, nine just in the first period.
In the second period, McKinley Karpa (pictured left) scored two goals for her team, making the score 3-0. Karpa first scored at 16:19 with an assist from Cafiero and Rittenhouse and then again at 18:39 on a power play with an assist from Michaud-Nolan. Colby held high pressure for the entire third period but were unable to score again, making the final score 3-0, a solid win against a NESCAC opponent.
The Mules return to play this weekend against Trinity College. The Mules will be traveling to Connecticut and we ask that during the month of January no one attend in person if they are not in the host's testing protocol. The Mules will play Friday January 28th at 7:00pm and Saturday January 29th at 3:00pm.
