Middlebury, Vermont- The Men's Ice Hockey team took on the Middlebury College Panthers in their second NESCAC matchup of the weekend. The Mules would take home two wins this weekend after defeating the Panthers 3-1.
Â
The Mules got off to a bit of a slow start in the first period, following a tough game from the night before. Unfortunately, the Mules would not be able to convert and would end the period at a scoreless tie and being outshot 9-8 by the Panthers.
Â
The Mules would find the back of the net nearly five minutes into the second period with a goal from
Alex Bourhas to give the Mules a one goal lead.
Henry Molson and
Brian Sanzone would both tally an assist. Despite giving up two power play opportunities to the Panthers, sophomore
Griffin Grise would score with 18:06 remaining in the period,
John McElaney and
Jake Klein both credited with assists on Grise's goal that would give the Mules a two-goal advantage heading into the final period of play.
Â
Middlebury would gain their fair share of offensive opportunities, but before they could find the scoresheet, senior
Quinn Doyle would score his third goal of the season to put the Mules up 3-0. McElaney would once again assist on the goal with
Jack Sullivan also tallying a point of his own on the night. Middlebury tested the Mules in the second half of the third, finally breaking through
