Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mules Get on Track, Dominate Husson

Waterville, MAINE- The Colby College Men's Basketball team hosted Husson University Friday night, with tip off at 7:00 PM. Prior to the match up, Colby had dropped its last four contests and intently focused on a turn around. Husson was the perfect target for such a game.

The Mules dominated from the tip, scoring 32 points in the paint, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three, and being able to rely on the bench to score 32 points in the game. The first half was highlighted by Jonah Obi hosting a block party, collecting four in only a few defensive possessions. Lucas Green also performed well in the half, scoring nine points on 50% efficiency while also passing for four assists. The energy was high in the Margaret M. Crook Arena, and these two players helped to keep it that way, as Green nearly came down with the poster of the season over an unsuspecting Husson athlete and Obi sent home four vicious blocks.

In the second, things just got worse for Husson Basketball as Colby's efficiency in all three levels of scoring skyrocketed. 56.7% from the field and 61.1% from three is always going to be difficult to beat, especially when its created through good ball movement and court vision. The Mules did whatever they wanted in the second, and look to be stronger than ever.

There were several strong competitors for Colby in this game. Green made a massive impact, posting a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Alec McGovern also had 14 points, but instead paired it with 8 rebounds. Jack Lawson finished the game with an efficient 12 points, two blocks, a steal, four assists, and five rebounds. Liam O'Connell also filled out the box score with 11 points on 4-7 shooting.

It's good to see the team play well, and they'll look to do it again when they host their NESCAC rival Bowdoin College on Saturday, January 22nd, at 3:00 PM.
