Waterville, MAINE - After three weeks of no home games, the Colby College Field Hockey Team was looking to add another win to their season tally as they faced off against the Saint Joseph's College Monks Wednesday night. The Mules were looking to bring lots of energy to this game and to see a strong performance from all team members.
Colby took some time to get used to their opponent, with the game remaining scoreless after the first quarter. First-year Pernilla Shaw (headline photo) captured her first collegiate goal with 50 seconds left in the first half, with the assist to sophomore Jackie Mortell.
Heading into the second half, the Mules were looking to add to their lead where Pernilla Shaw scored once again, giving the Mules a two goal cushion. Colby showcased a strong defense and midfield, led by first-year Casey Winslow and sophomores Lillian Kistner and Jackie Mortell, all helping to move the ball defensively and adding into the attack.
The Mules would take home this match 4-1, with Lillian Kistner scoring her third goal of the season. Pernilla Shaw would add a third goal for a hat trick this match, scoring three goals on three shots.
The Mules face of in their third NESCAC matchup of the year on Homecoming weekend against Hamilton College this Saturday, October 2nd, at 12:00 PM. Go Mules!!
