Waterville, Maine - Colby Men's soccer played at home this weekend against Connecticut College. The final box score was 1-0 moving the Mules season ranking to 2-3 and Connecticut College to 3-1.
From the start spectators on both sides could feel the intensity of play between Conn. College Camels and the Colby Mules. Connecticut College started the game with a set play during kick-off. With the Camels in possession they were able to put a shot on net in the first 40 seconds of play. Colby keeper
Noah Jackson saved the shot, resulting in a corner kick. The Camels maintained possession in Colby's defensive third for the majority of the first half. Conn. College fired 16 shots during the first half, 11 on net all saved by Colby keeper

In the third minute of the second half, Conn. College put up two corner kicks. The second corner kick taken by Connecticut College sent a cross right into the box, where Conn. player Augie Djerdjaj was waiting. Djedjaj deflected the ball into the lower left of the net, scoring the first goal of the game. The box score moved to 1-0, Connecticut College leading. Sam Wilson put a shot on net, also saved by the keeper. Pressure rose as the clock counted down, and the Mules' intensity of play picked up. The Mules maintained greater possession in the last part of the second half than any other time throughout the game. Towards the end of the half multiple attempts from the Mules to bring the score up fell just short. With only five minutes remaining Colby Junior
Aboubacar Traore 'Kevin' hit a head ball off a corner kick that landed on net. The shot was saved by Connecticut's keeper. A second header shot by Mule
Jered Garrison followed a corner from Colby a minute later, the shot going wide of goal. With three minutes remaining a foul was called on Conn. college. From right field, Colby player took the foul kick and hit a ball to the top of the box where
Ethan Franco took possession. Franco took a shot, with hopes of evening the score, but the shot hit the left post. The game came to a frustrating end for the Mules with a box score of 1-0 Connecticut College in the lead.
The Mules are scheduled to play again against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
