Wenham, Massachusetts- Colby played Gordon in Wenham, Massachusetts Wednesday evening. The Colby Mules took the lead with a final box score of 2-0. This brings Colby up to 1-1 for the season and brings Gordon down to 2-2.
The first half of play started out with turbulence for Gordon as a penalty kick was issued for the Mules in the seventh minute of play. Colby College junior
Ethan Franco took the penalty kick and hit the back of the net, scoring the first goal of the game. This goal brought the box score to 1-0 with the Mules leading. Gordon responded with two shots, both high of the net. In the 15th minute of play Colby senior
Ethan Fabricant took a shot on net that was saved by Gordon's keeper. There were three more shots from Gordon in the first half. Colby keeper
Noah Jackson saved Gordon's only shot on goal in the first half, in the 28th minute with the rest of Gordon's shots being blocked or missing the net. The Mules dominated the rest of the first half with shots from
Justin Lauer,
Ethan Franco,
Paul Hawkins, and
Josh Rubin. The box score at the 45th minute of play was 1-0 with the Colby Mules leading.
The first shot after halftime came from Colby freshmen
Mario Simoes but was blocked by Gordon's Casey Torres. Five more shots from Colby's front line followed.
Josh Rubin put one of these shots on net in the 73rd minute but was saved by Gordon's keeper. Two more shots from Colby in the 78th minute followed with a final shot at the end of the same minute taken by
Josh Rubin who sunk the ball into the net, scoring the second and final goal of the game. Rubin's goal brought the box score to 2-0 with the Mules in the lead. The rest of the second half carried just one more shot on goal for the Mules, coming in the 83rd minute from Colby senior Collin Sullivan. Gordon attempted to reverse their standing with four shots in the last part of the second half, three of which were missed or blocked and one of which saved by Colby goalie
