Waterville, MAINE - The Colby Volleyball team played their first match in the Margaret M. Crook Arena Friday night and took home a three set victory over the visiting Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy.  Colby moved to 2-0 on the season, while MMA fell to 2-2.  

Excitement filled the arena as over 200 onlookers filled the home stands.  The energy was felt on the court as well, as Colby jumped out to a first set win 25-11.  The second set started on a much different note.  The Mariners jumped out to a 11-0 lead before the Mules stormed back to take the lead halfway through 13-12.  The set ended on a block by the pair of Morgan Selby and Hannah Wyllie.  The Mules ended the night by taking the third set 25-13.  

Jenny Slaveck (photo left) and Wyllie led the team with 10 and 9 kills respectively, and Bella Schumacher joined Slaveck to lead the team in service aces.  

"Bella and Jenny had really good service runs to get us back on track in set two," said head coach Lindsay Johnson. "As a team, we had 66 digs in a three set match, which shows we have worked hard to play disciplined defense.  We are excited to finish out the tournament tomorrow!"

The Mules are back in action Saturday for a double header.  They play host to UMaine Presque Isle at 11:00am before hosting Gordon College at 2:00pm.
