Waterville, Maine- The Mules faced the Bobcats of Bates College today on Mayflower Hill, winning 9-1.
First-year Elijah Cohen started for the Mules this afternoon, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out eight. Despite giving up one run, the Mules's offense took charge of the afternoon, led by junior Cabot Maher (pictured left). Maher led the team today in RBIs, with three, including a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Mules a 3-1 lead. The eighth inning proved to be an offensive show, with the Mules putting six runs on the board, with Frank Driscoll and Patrick Carbone shutting down Bates on the mound in 3.0 and 1.0 innings pitched, respectively. Maher and first-year catcher, Cole Palmeri, led the offense in the eighth, bringing in four total runs to lead the Mules to their win.
