Waterville, Maine - The Mules faced the Bobcats of Bates College for the second time this season, hoping to add another win to their season. First-year Nicholas Thompson took the mound for the Mules in their 12-4 victory, earning the win on 4.1 innings pitched.
On top of Thompson's strong performance, the Mules were able to pull through offensively. First-year Marcus Forrester (pictured left) carried the Mules' offense today, reaching base three times, scoring three times, and having one RBI. Another first-year, Brady O'Brien and senior Andrew Russell had strong offensive bats today, all having two RBIs each. The Mules earned their first run in the first inning with senior Ryan Hecht scoring off of a fielding error. Never facing a deficit, the Mules were able to add plenty of insurance for the pitching staff, totaling twelve runs over nine innings.
Thompson pitched 4.1 innings allowing two runs and striking out four. Matthew Scibilio came in for relief with a strong performance of 2.2 innings, no runs, and one strikeout. Patrick Carbonne and John Doyle also came into the game, pitching 1.0 innings, respectively.
The Mules are home next Saturday, May 8, at 1PM versus Bates at Coombs Field on Mayflower Hill. Please remember that no visitors are permitted on campus from outside the testing program and if you are a Colby community member, please remember to wear your masks!
