Women's Lacrosse Brings Home a Win from Connecticut College

New London, Conn. - The women's lacrosse team went on the road this weekend to take on the Connecticut College Camels, bringing home a win 14-6.

Colby Women's Lacrosse played Connecticut College today, winning 14-6. The game began with a quick goal by the Camels, with a returned goal from Colby. Most of the first half was very competitive, with both offenses having trouble connecting feeds. After two successive goals from senior attacker Grace Langmuir (22) followed by two goals by freshman midfielder Cami McDonald (8), Colby was able to pick up the pace of their goals, scoring with a combination of drives, penalty shots, and long shots from outside. By the end of the first half, with a rotation of new players, Colby slowed on their goal-scoring. Colby defense played a combination of man- to-man and backer zone defense, which proved effective in forcing turnovers. Colby ended the half in the lead, 7-2.

Bruno 2020-21The second half also began with two goals by the Camels. Three quick goals by sophomore attacker Gianna Bruno (11) (pictured left) and sophomore attacker Annie Eddy (24) pushed Colby forward and allowed for increased intensity. Colby defense played a high pressure, forcing several turnovers, several made by sophomore midfielder Lauren Jennings (9). Colby played a high-pressure zone on the Connecticut clear, which resulted in several repossessions on the Colby attack. The second half exhibited many feeds to the middle, with impressive stick skills under pressure. Colby ended the game with a 14-6 win against Connecticut College.
