Waterville, Maine -
Dear Colby Community,
The presidents of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) have reached agreement on a return to spring conference competition. This will allow our baseball, softball, lacrosse, crew, tennis, golf, and track and field programs to compete this spring. This is such exciting news for our spring athletes who lost the opportunity to compete last year, nearly one year to the day. The full NESCAC statement can be found on the conference
website.
Our primary focus remains protecting the health and safety of the entire community. We have established rigorous protocols that go beyond federal, state, and NCAA regulations, and are informed by our own experiences as one of the first colleges to successfully bring its community back to campus. This will include a policy of no spectators from outside of the Colby campus community. However, we will find exciting ways to live stream games for alumni, families, and community members to watch and cheer their Mules on. I will share more information about these opportunities in the upcoming weeks.
In addition to this exciting news, I also want to share that many of our winter teams have returned to competition. In an historic moment for the entire Colby Community, our women's and men's basketball teams as well as our men's hockey team competed in their
first nonconference games in the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center, and four Nordic skiers are set to compete at the NCAA Championships this week.
We do not take these opportunities lightly. Our athletes, coaches and administrators have been preparing for this moment throughout the year and I am proud to say that we are ready.
Go Mules,
Mike Wisecup
Vice President
Harold Alfond Director of Athletics
