Judd Moldaver '04 - NHL Sports Agent

Waterville, Maine - Colby College Men's Ice Hockey alum Judd Moldaver '04 was named to the National Hockey League's (NHL) "Top 40 Under 40" for 2020 as presented by The Athletic. Moldaver currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Wasserman Hockey, a sports marketing and talent management company that represents over 1,500 athletes, broadcasters, and coaches. Moldaver represents some of the top current and future NHL athletes.  He graduated with a degree in Government from Colby in 2004.

Moldaver head"It's a dream and it doesn't seem real some days," Moldaver stated when asked about what it is like working with some of the NHL's top players. He notes that his work not only involves the players, but also the families of many household names in the world of hockey. Some of Moldaver's clients include Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs), Roman Josi (Nashville Predators), Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers), and Shane Bowers (Colorado Avalanche) to name a few. When reflecting upon being named to the 40 Under 40 list, Moldaver reflects that "I am humbled by the recognition and lucky to have the clients that we have."

While attending high school in Toronto, Moldaver set his sights on playing college hockey. He had witnessed some older players leave Canada to go play in the United States at various institutions across the country and explored the possibility. In 2000 Moldaver made the commitment to then head coach Jim Tortorella, and he crossed the border. Moldaver then played for the Mules from 2000-04.

Moldaver will be the first to tell you that his Colby experiences, academically and athletically, prepared him well for his future. Having to battle through various injuries while at Colby, he learned how to deal with the ups and downs of being a student athlete and has come to realize they are very similar to the ups and downs one experiences in life. The academic pace of Colby also guided Moldaver to find balance by managing a busy schedule.

His dream of being a sports agent started even before becoming a Mule, but an internship opportunity that came across Moldaver's plate after his junior year set the table. After that experience he knew that being a sports agent was his calling. This internship propelled Moldaver's career, who returned to the same company for a subsidized internship after graduation. The next step was full-time employment and working really hard to make a name for himself.

Despite everything that is currently happening in the world, Moldaver is not slowing down. In October, Wasserman Hockey represented a handful of players who were drafted in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft. Moldaver is not afraid to acknowledge that this has been a challenging time and is constantly trying to be an added layer of positive support for his clients. He encourages all of them to "be in the moment" as he works towards his goal of always delivering the best for each and every one of them.

Ultimately it is not about the accolades for Moldaver. He is thankful for his past opportunities, for the support of those around him, and he is inspired to deliver his best each and every day.
