Softball Starts off Season in the Sunshine

Waterville, Maine - Colby Softball took the field today for a double-header in the first weekend of their season.  The excitement for a season amidst COVID was palpable on the field today, only helped by the sunshine and warm weather.

The Mules lost both games today to the USM Huskies.  Ashley Ketchum (5), Chloe Wilcox (22), Jackie Hill (7), and Hannah Masterson (4) all scored today for the Mules.  The Mules were not without opportunity today.  They were able to get 17 hits to the Huskies' 21 but were unable to convert hits to runs scored.  Three-quarters of the team are underclassmen who have not played in a NESCAC season, so there is quite a bit of potential for the Mules.  The Mules will look to build a strong foundation throughout the spring and we expect them to bring home some wins in the coming weekends.
