Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Colby Remains Undefeated, Dominant Against Husson

Bangor, ME - Colby Women's Basketball traveled to face the Husson Eagles in their third game of the season. The Mules had a dominant showing, maintaining their lead throughout the game to emerge with a final score of 68-56.

The game opened with a three pointer by Carter McGloon '24 in the first minute of the game. The teams got off to a balanced start, with rebounds and turnovers from both teams perpetuating heavy back-and-forth play. Despite the Eagles capturing a slim lead in the middle of the first quarter, the Mules reignited their momentum with a layup in the paint by Keagan Dunbar '22 to reclaim their advantage. The Mules entered the second quarter with a score of 18-15 which was quickly brought to 20-15 by another early shot by McGloon. This quarter maintained its defensive action while remaining slow-paced on the offensive. The half ended with a total score of 31-24.

The second half of the game opened with a foul by Husson on Adaobi Nebuwa '24, who successfully made both of her free throws. The Mules remained dominant throughout the quarter, maintaining a lead of 13 or more points for the majority of gameplay, propelled by a number of successful free throws and layups by Nebuwa. The Mules' lead expanded early in the final quarter thanks to points scored by Nebuwa and Carly Christofori '22. Despite the Eagles fighting back later in the period, scoring 19 points, it was not enough to stifle the Mules' momentum.

The game ended with a final score of 68-56, bringing the Mules' overall record to 3-0. Caroline Smith '24 and Nebuwa led the way to this victory, scoring 17 and 15 points respectively throughout the game. The Mules continued to take advantage of their strong defense, scoring nearly a third of their points off of turnovers.

Colby Women's Basketball is next set to face Colby-Sawyer College in the first round of the Colby Tip Off Classic on Saturday, November 20, at 2PM.
