Men's Soccer Fall to William's, in Massachusetts

Williamstown, Massachusetts- The Colby Men's soccer team traveled to Massachusetts to play against the Williams College Ephs this weekend. Williams was able to top the Mule's with a final box score of 2-0. The lose brings Colby's season stats to 4-5-1 and Williams to 5-4-1 overall. 

In the first half of the game, the Mule's had two shots on goal. Josh Rubin shot a ball that was saved by the Williams keeper in the 18th minute of play. This shot came after multiple shots from the Williams offense, many of which were blocked by Colby's strong defensive line. The next 10 minutes of the half were largely possessions based. The two teams battled in aggressive manner of play, with a limited number of shots from each team. In the 30th minute, Williams was granted a penalty kick. From the penalty kick Williams was able to score their first goal of the game. This brought the box score to 1-0 with the Ephs in the lead. The second shot on goal for the Mule's came from Ben Diffley in the last two minutes of the first half, the shot was saved by Williams keeper. With 14 seconds remaining in the first half, after no shots on goal for Williams leading up, the Ephs scored their second goal. The half ended soon after this goal with the box score at 2-0, Williams in the lead. 

The second half started with intensity, as Colby aimed to shift the outcome of the game. The first shot on goal came in the fifth minute of play, from senior Ethan Fabricant, saved by Williams keeper. The Colby shot count on goal, doubled that of Williams' in the second half. Colby players Ethan Franco, Justin Lauer and Josh Rubin all took shots that were saved by the William's keeper. Although the half remained scoreless, the teams played aggressively. Despite the score, the two seemed to be a evenly matched pair, and the show could have been anyone's game. Despite this, the final box score remained at 2-0 after the second half, with the Williams Ephs coming out of top. 

The Colby Mule's play next on Tuesday at 7:30 pm against Maine Maritime Academy.
