Field Hockey Plays Tough Against #13 Polar Bears

Waterville, MAINE- The Colby Mules faced off against Bowdoin College in a midweek NESCAC matchup on Tuesday night. The Mules were looking to knock off the 13th-ranked team in the country and make a statement in the NESCAC.

The first half of the match proved to be difficult for the Mules to gain an offensive advantage as Bowdoin worked up a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half. First-year Hattie Baker saw significant playing time in goal after substituting in for sophomore Emily Loeb with four minutes left to play in the first half.

First-year Sandrine Brien showed her grit and determination by scoring her sixth goal of the season with four seconds left in the third quarter of the match. The Mules were able to hold Bowdoin to two goals in the second half, with Hattie Baker making two saves. First-year Mya Salazar tipped home a sweep from sophomore Charlotte Epker on the Mules' seventh penalty corner of the match, bringing the final score to 5-2 Bowdoin.

The Mules head to Williams College to play the 8th-ranked Ephs on Saturday, October 9th, at 12:00 PM. Go Mules!
