New London, Conn. – The Colby Volleyball team took on its fifth NESCAC opponent this Saturday when they visited the Connecticut College Camels. The game was a hard-fought battle with each of the first three sets having only two points separate the teams. In a match which featured 30 ties and 14 lead changes, the host Camels came out ahead 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19).
The Mules took the first set (25-23), and battled tough in the next two, but the Camels pulled away in the fourth set and came out on top, earning their first conference win of the season.
Jenny Slaveck once again led the Mules with 15 kills, and
Natalie Bumpus was not far behind with 10 on the day.
Bella Schumacher led Colby in the backcourt with 26 digs, and Samantha Shultz had a strong showing with 22. Colby increased its collective blocks six-fold from the night before against the Wesleyan Cardinals, accumulating a total of six throughout the match.
Colby is back in action on Wednesday, October 6, hosting Husson University at 7:00pm.
