Waterville, Maine - The Colby Mules played at home this weekend against the Wesleyan Cardinals. The Mule's fell to the Cardinals with a final box score of 2-1. The loss brings the Mules to 6-6-1 for the season and bumps Wesleyan up to 8-2-2.

The first half was scoreless. The Cardinals topped the Mule's with shot totals of six in the first 45 minutes for Wesleyan and two for the Mule's. Sophomore Ethan Franco took both shots from Colby in the first half, both wide of the net. Colby keeper Jared Mcnair saved both of the two shots on net from Wesleyan.Â

The beginning of the second half contained no shots from Colby, but every shot from Wesleyan was saved by Mcnair or blocked by Colby defense keeping the score at 0-0 for the first 13 minutes of the game. In the 13th minute, Wesleyan scored the first goal bringing the box score to 0-1 Cardinals in the lead. Following the goal, tensions rose and yellow cards were handed out on both sides of the field. In the 22nd minute Wesleyan scored again bringing the score to 0-2 for the Cardinals. Mcnair saved multiple shots following the goal, but the Mules were unlucky with minimal shots against Wesleyan. The Cardinals thought they were home free, but with seconds remaining Colby changed the score. With 13 seconds remaining on the clock, Franco took a penalty kick following a foul against Wesleyan, and scored his eighth goal of the season. The game ended with a final box score of 2-1 Wesleyan in the lead.Â
