Box Score Waterville, ME – The Colby College Men's Basketball team goes 2-0 against the Bates College Bobcats on the year with 72-61 win.
GAME NOTES
- With the help of hot shooting the Mules started out with a 19-4 lead eight minutes into the first half. Matt Hanna, Noah Tyson, and Wallace Tucker all had 10 points to help guide Colby to a 48-28 lead at half time. Bates would not go down without a fight in the second half as they would get to within seven points with 6:49 to play. The Mules were able to slow them down in the end to get the 72-61 home win.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES
Colby had five players score in double figures with Matt Hanna (photo insert) leading the Mules with 15 points.
- Noah Tyson ended with a double-double scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds shooting 6-12 from the field.
- Alex Dorion pitched in 13 points and eight rebounds.
- Off the bench, Alec McGovern and Wallace Tucker each added 10 points. McGovern went 5-6 from the field.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE BOBCATS
- Jacob Iwowo and Tom Coyne led all scorers with 19 points apiece. 11 of their 19 points came in the second half. Iwowo added 14 rebounds to complete a double-double of his own. Coyne shot 7-16 from the field.
- Stephon Baxter added 11 points for the Bobcats while Jeff Spellman pulled down 16 rebounds.
KEY STATS
- Colby outrebounded Bates 45-43 and had 38 points in the paint while Bates had 36.
- The Mules had 25 points off the bench.
