Colby moves to 18-0 with 101-84 road win at Bates College

Lewiston, ME – The Colby College Men's Basketball team starts out the weekend road trip with a 101-84 win at Bates College.

GAME NOTES

  • The first half consisted of numerous ties and lead changes for the Mules and Bobcats.  Colby took a four point lead with 15 minutes to go but Bates came roaring back to tie it up at the 10 minute mark. The Mules would take a one point lead at half time. In the second half Colby was able to keep their foot on the gas pedal to pull away for a 101-84 victory.  

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES

  • Sam Jefferson continues his shooting prowess with 26 points. He went 8-13 from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line.
  • Four other players scored double figures for Colby including Matt Hanna with 20 points. Hanna went 8-11 on the night.
  • Noah Tyson added 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Will King (photo insert) had a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists. He also had eight rebounds.
  • Alex Dorion did his part with 11 points.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE BOBCATS

  • Stephon Baxter had 21 points leading the way for Bates. He went 9-17 from the field.
  • Three others also scored in double figures. Jeff Spellman hit 18 points, Nick Gilpin added 10, and Kody Greenhalgh scored 13 points.
  • Stephon Baxter is third in the NESCAC with a 46.7% three point percentage while Jeff Spellman is seventh in the conference with 15.2 points per game.

KEY STATS

  • The Mules shot 56.5% from the field as a team and scored over 100 points for the seventh time this year.
  • Jefferson and Baxter are tied for the lead in three point percentage in the NESCAC at 50%. Jefferson is also fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 61.3%.
  • There were three ties and six lead changes while Colby's largest lead was 21 points.

NEXT MATCHUP

  • Colby will play their final road game before they are home for the next four when they travel to Medford, MA to take on #22 Tufts College Saturday February, 1 at 3:00.
