Women's Ice Hockey falls to Middlebury, 3-0

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team lost their first NESCAC conference matchup against Middlebury College, 3-0.

GAME NOTES:  Middlebury capitalized on two power play opportunities and held Colby's offense from scoring. The Mules now fall to 9-3-2 overall (5-1-1 in NESCAC).

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Nina Prunster (photo inset) finished with 23 saves on the night. Her record now moves to 4-2-1.
  • Three Mules led the team with four shots each. (Moira Mullaney, Cindy Giandomenico, and McKinley Karpa)

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE PANTHERS:

  • Jenna Letterie scored a power play goal at 3:38 of the first period. Madie Leidt and Claudia Vida helped set up the play.
  • Alex Ryan increased the lead to 2-0 in the second period. Letterie tallied her second point of the night with the assist.
  • Madie Leidt then scored herself the power play goal in the third period at 9:32. Eva Hendrikson and Vira moved the puck into the zone.

KEY STATS:

  • Both teams found themselves in the penalty box. The Mules committing seven infractions, the Panthers four.

NEXT MATCHUP: The Mules look to rebound with the rematch against Middlebury tomorrow afternoon. Game time is et for 3:00pm.
