Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team took the overtime thriller over the Saint Anselm College Hawks, 4-3.
GAME NOTES: Finding themselves down 2-0 after the first period, the Mules came back from the intermission rejuvenated. The offense found the back of the net three times and played a solid third period to enter the third tied at 3-3. With the win Colby moves to 9-1-2 overall.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:
- In goal, Savannah Shaw (photo inset)
tallied 23 saves and earned her first win of the season (1-0-0).
- Tay Munson scored her first goal of the 2019-2020 season at 3:27 in the second frame. Cindy Giandomenico and Bri Michaud-Nolan assisted on the power play goal.
- Just over halfway through the period, Tess Dupre scored on the backhand in front of the net to take the deficit back to 3-2. Lexi Cafiero and Madi Brown carried the puck into the zone for the assists.
- McKinley Karpa rifled the puck into the net to tie the game at 17:35 of the same period. Dupre and Cafiero earned their second points of the night on the play.
- In overtime, Anna Cosentino (headline photo) found her one on one opportunity and lifted the puck into the net to take the win for Colby. Dupre took her third point of the night with the assist.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE HAWKS:
- Jayden Young played a huge first period, scoring both goals. The first goal was assisted by Marissa Agerter and Amanda Nylander. The second unassisted.
- In the second period Kelly Golleni scored on the power play at 5:48. Kathleen LeFebre and Megan Klaus assisted.
- Michaela Kane finished with 32 saves for the Hawks.
KEY STATS:
- With the overtime goal, Cosentino earns her fourth goal of the season.
- Cafiero and Karpa now tie to lead the Mules with 14 points on the season.
- Dupre now has three multi-point games on the season.
- Colby's penalty kill is now .875 on the season.
- The Mules led in shots 36-27, and faceoffs 29-26.
