Mules pull away in the 4th quarter to pick up big conference win

Waterville, Maine – The Colby College Women's Basketball team gets their first conference win of the 19-20 season with a 62-48 victory over the Middlebury College Panthers.

GAME NOTES

  • The Mules and Panthers each had leads throughout the first two quarters but neither team was able to pull away from one another. Betsy Knox of Middlebury and Alisha Aube of Colby each had 10 points to help pace their respective teams to a 26-26 tie at half. It was a one point game going into the final quarter of the game. With the help of multiple three point field goals Colby was able to pull away and take a 62-48 home win.    

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES

  • Aube (photo inset) led all scorers with 24 points. She went 5-15 from the field, 4-6 from three, and 10-10 from the free throw line. She also grabbed six rebounds.
  • Ainsley Burns (headline photo) had a big night for the Mules with 19 points. Burns went 7-9 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc.
  • Keagan Dunbar added nine points, Grace Coutu pitched in four while Brooke Guiffre had five. Dunbar went 3-5 from three.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE PANTHERS

  • Middlebury had three players score in double figures with Betsy Knox leading the way for the Panthers with 14 points. She was 7-18 from the field.
  • Reagan McDonald went 5-11 with 13 points and Maya Davis had 11. Davis went 2-2 from three and 3-3 from the line.

KEY STATS

  • Colby as a team went 16-18 from the free throw line.
  • There were eight ties in the game as well as eight lead changes.
  • The Mules outrebounded the Panthers 35-11

  • Colby will continue its conference games on Saturday January 18 with a home game against Williams College at 3:00 PM.
