Sam Jefferson drops 40 as Colby finishes weekend 2-0 with 102-71 win over Anna Maria

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Colby College Men's basketball cruise to a 102-71 win over the Anna Maria Amcats to finish 2-0 on the weekend.

GAME NOTES:

  • Anna Maria came out looking to give Colby their first loss of the season but Colby had other ideas, outshooting the Amcats 102-71.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Senior guard Sam Jefferson went 15-21 from the field, sinking 8 of 12 3-point shots, and totalling 40 points for the Mules.
  • Noah Tyson contributed 20 points for the Mules, shooting 7-14 with 3 3-point shots. 
  • Alex Dorion was strong off the bench, posting 11 points in just 18 minutes of play.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE AMCATS:

  • Mike Rapoza led in points for the Amcats, tallying 20 points. Rapoza shot 9-14 from the field, and contributed defensively, producing 13 rebounds.
  • Ralph Grasso Jr. and Bobby Perette also had strong performances, producing 11 and 10 points respectively.

KEY STATS:

  • The Mules had a 48% shooting percentage, sinking 36 of 75 shots.
  • Colby led Anna Maria in rebounds, winning 47 rebounds versus Anna Maria's 36.

NEXT MATCHUP:

  • Colby will have its first home contest of the season when they face University of Maine at Farmington Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
