Mules edge Roadrunners in Overtime thriller to come away with a 103-97 victory

NEW LONDON, Conn. – In a neutral site game, the Colby College Men's basketball team started their Season off against the Ramapo College Roadrunners and came away with a thrilling 103-97 victory in overtime.

GAME NOTES:

  • Colby and Ramapo both came out in mid-season form but Colby was able to edge the Roadrunners in overtime. The Mules and Roadrunners each had five players score in double figures with Alex Dorion dropping 23 points to lead all Colby scorers. Ramapo Guard, Rob McWilliams, led all scorers with 25 points.

HIGHTLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Senior guard Dorion came off the bench to lead the Mules with 23 total points, sinking 7 3-point shots.

  • Noah Tyson and Sam Jefferson each contributed 17 points to the Mules offense, followed by Matt Hanna and Wallace Tucker at 16 and 15 respectively. 

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE ROADRUNNERS:

  • Ramapo guard Rob McWilliams led the Roadrunners with 25 total points, in just 30 minutes of play. He was 11-18 on field goals. McWilliams also provided 3 defensive rebounds and 4 steals. 
  • Jason Battle and Matt Latka also contributed 16 points each.
  • Overall, the Roadrunners made 54.4% of their shots from the open field, 27.3% three-pointers, and 62.5% of freethrows.

KEY STATS:

  • The Mules were solid defensively, providing 44 rebounds, 7 steals, and 3 blocked shots.

NEXT MATCHUP:

  • The Mules will take on Anna Maria College today at 2:00pm at Connecticut College in another non-conference game.
