Women's hockey ends NESCAC schedule with setback

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Lauren Klein and Tess Dupre scored goals for the Colby College women's hockey team, but fourth-ranked Middlebury College had a big third period in a 7-2 NESCAC victory Saturday at Alfond Rink.

Game highlights
* Jessica Young and Ellie Barney scored two goals in the final 4:01 of the first period for Middlebury.
 
* The Panthers' Anna Zumwinkle scored just 2:09 into the second period for a 3-0 margin. Colby only trailed 3-1 after two periods when Klein scored at 14:21 from Elizabeth Brashich and Anna Cosentino. 
 
* The Panthers scored at 1:08 and 4:09 of the third period to take control. The Mules (7-12-4 overall, 2-10-4 NESCAC) did get their second power play goal when Tess Dupre had her fourth of the season from Lily Santonelli.
 
* However, Middlebury (16-4-2, 12-1-1 NESCAC) scored the final two goals of the game.
 
By the numbers
* Colby goalie Cierra San Roman had 34 saves while playing 49:10. Savannah Shaw played the final 10:50 and made 11 stops.
 
* Middlebury goalie Julia Neuburger made 16 saves.
