Frykholm, Nadeau help women's soccer to tie with Bowdoin

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Less than two minutes after Bowdoin College took a 1-0 lead, Colby College's Mannon Frykholm scored her first collegiate goal to help the Mules to a 1-1 overtime tie on Sunday in NESCAC women's soccer.
 
Both teams came into the game needing a conference win. The Mules are 4-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the league, while the Polar Bears moved to 5-4-2 and 1-4-1 in the conference.
 
Game highlights
* Bowdoin first-year Jamei Lau scored her first goal on a play starting off a throw-in deep in Colby's defensive zone. The throw was headed backwards by a Colby defender and then headed in by Lau at 14:27. 
 
* The Mules answered at 16:03 on a play started by a cross from Olivia Greif. Juliette Nadeau was first to the ball and tapped a pass to her left. Frykholom came in hard and kicked a shot to the left corner of the net from about 25 yards. Frykholm made the kick and was knocked down from behind by a Bowdoin defender. 
 
By the numbers
* Colby goalkeeper Shannon Gray made 14 saves, including three in overtime. She improved her save percentage to .894.
 
* Sabrina Albanese made three saves for the Polar Bears.
 
* Bowdoin had a 25-8 shot advantage and a 10-5 margin in corner kicks.

* Colby heads to Amherst College for a league game Saturday at noon.
 
* Bowdoin makes the long trip to Hamilton College for an 11 a.m. start Saturday.
