Men's basketball falls in road game to Polar Bears

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Colby College men's basketball team hit 13 3-point shots, but Bowdoin College led at halftime and held on for an 83-77 win in NESCAC play Saturday.

The Mules, who were playing without starter Dean Weiner, are 10-6 overall and 1-3 in league play. Bowdoin improves to 12-4 and 2-2 in the conference.
 
By the numbers
* Alex Dorion was 6-for-9 from 3-point range for a team-high 18 points for the Mules. Sam Jefferson also shot well from long range, finishing 5-for-11 on the way to 16 points.
 
* Matt Hanna, Pat Dickert, and Wallace Tucker all had 10 points for Colby. Hanna had a team-high seven rebounds, Dickert was 4-for-4 from the field, and Tucker had three assists along with Hanna.
 
* David Reynolds had 29 points and eight rebounds for Bowdoin.
 
Game highlights
* After the Polar Bears took an early 13-6 lead, Colby used a 13-6 run of its own to tie the game at 19-19 midway through the first half.
 
* Bowdoin went ahead for good with a 5-0 run out of a timeout and led 46-33 at halftime. 
 
* The Polar Bears led by as much as 19 points (64-45) in the second half before Dorion got hot and led a 15-4 run to bring the margin to 68-59.
