CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- In a match with six final scores of 3-2, the Colby College men's squash team pulled out a 5-4 victory over Amherst College in the 23rd/24th-ranked match at the College Squash Association Team Championships on Sunday.
The Mules (14-12 overall) had 3-2 wins from Will McBrian at the first position, Will Pepi at the fifth spot, and Matt Epstein (pictured) at eight. Hugh Doherty won by a 3-0 margin at the fourth position and captain Patrick McCarthy took a 3-1 victory at the second spot.
McBrian, Epstein, and Pepi all won the opening two sets, lost the next two, and came up with clutch wins in the fifth set. Epstein won 13-11 in his fifth set at the eighth position. McBrian won 11-6 in the final set and Pepi took an 11-7 win.
McCarthy closed his career with 47 victories. He was tied for the team lead in wins this year at 14 with Epstein and Pepi. McBrian, a junior, has 38 career wins.
