Box Score

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College men's soccer team was less than a minute away from advancing to the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs when Bates College's Beaufils Kimpolo-Pene scored with 24.5 seconds left in the second overtime Wednesday.

The Bobcats (8-5-2 overall, 3-5-2 NESCAC) had to win the game to make the playoffs. Bates earned the eighth seed and will play at top-seeded Tufts University on Saturday in a league quarterfinal game. Colby, which ends its season at 6-6-2 overall, would have made the playoffs if the game ended in a tie.
