Women's basketball defeats UMF

FARMINGTON, Maine -- The Colby College women's basketball team held University of Maine at Farmington to 28.6 percent shooting from the field on the way to a 67-51 non-conference win on Wednesday night.

The Mules are 9-8 overall heading into Saturday's NESCAC game at Bowdoin College at 3 p.m.
 

Haley Driscoll (pictured) was 6-for-11 from the field for 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Paige Russell had a solid game off the bench with 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting and six rebounds. Ainsley Burns also had 10 points, Caitlyn Nolan nailed three 3-point shots for nine points, Katie McCrum added eight points, Jackie Albanese scored seven, and MK Caverly dished four assists.

Abby Hasson led the Beavers (3-12) with 12 points and seven rebounds. Morgan Crocker added nine points for UMF, which went 21-for-25 from the foul line. 
 

Colby never trailed in the game, scoring the first 10 points of the contest. McCrum had six points and Burns scored four. The Beavers hung tough and tied the game on two occasions before the Mules took an 18-16 lead after one quarter.

Nolan nailed all three of her 3-point shots to turn a 28-20 margin into a 37-21 lead. The Mules led 37-25 at halftime and then held the Beavers to just six points in the third quarter.
