BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Katie McLaughlin (pictured) scored a pair of goals and Halley Fine stopped six shots in overtime for the Colby College women's hockey team in a 3-3 tie with University of New England on Tuesday night.
The Mules had two leads in the game and also trailed once. Colby will play at Williams College on Friday at 7 p.m.
McLaughlin scored just 31 seconds into the game off assists from Anna Rudinski and Mikayla McLaughlin. The Mules took a 1-0 lead into intermission and allowed just five shots on goal in the period.
The Nor'easters (5-6-2 overall) scored two goals in a span of 1:23 of the second period to take the lead. Cassandra Connolly scored at 4:25 to tie the game. After a Colby slashing penalty at 5:02, UNE's Gabby Crugnale scored on the power play at 5:48.
The Mules (0-9-3) fought back quickly in the third period, with Delaney Flynn scoring at 1:56 off an assist from Kailey Buxbaum.
McLaughlin put Colby ahead at 6:07 with her second of the game from Iggy Tegtmeyer and Sasha Fritts. Tegtmeyer had her first collegiate point on the play.
The Mules had a 42-29 shot advantage, with Fine stopping 26 shots. Nor'easter goaltender Sydney Helmbrecht made 39 saves.
