Box Score 2 HARTFORD, Conn. — A day after earning a big win over Trinity College, the Colby College softball team fell 7-1 and 3-0 to the Bantams in a NESCAC East doubleheader Saturday at Campus Field.
The Mules drop to 12-15 overall and 3-6 in the conference, while the Bantams move to 17-10 and 5-4 in the league.
Colby had a good day defensively, with just one error in the two games. Julia Saul was the tough luck loser when Colby was held to just one hit (a single by Saul) in the nightcap. She struck out one and walked one in six innings.
Rachael Smith threw the one-hitter and struck out four. She received one run from Trinity in the second and two more in the third.
Colby had nine hits in the second game, but Trinity had four extra-base hits in the contest. Wiley Holton was 3-for-3 with the lone Mule RBI. Grace Farnkoff had two hits and scored, while Skylar Labbe also had two hits. Robin Spofford and Tori Sansone had the other hits for Colby.
Courtney Erickson had a three-run homer run in the fifth inning to turn a 2-1 Bantam lead into a 5-1 margin. Trinity added two more runs in the sixth.
