O'Grady, an Environmental Science major, was one of three linebackers selected to the team. District 1 includes all of New England.
O'Grady, a middle linebacker and tri-captain, leads the Mules this year in total tackles (45) heading into Saturday's season finale at Bowdoin College. He also has three tackles for loss, including a sack.
Due to two injury problems, O'Grady played just 19 of a possible 31 games at Colby. He missed his entire first year at Colby after breaking his wrist in high school. O'Grady also missed four games during his junior season due to a high ankle sprain. He has 103 tackles in the 19 games.
O'Grady earned a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award in May 2012. He has earned NESCAC Fall All-Academic honors in all three years of eligibility.
O'Grady has been active within his major. He studied abroad at the School for Field Studies in Australia, where he germinated and planted native rainforest tree species to create wildlife corridors. O'Grady also had internships with the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Orleans Conservation Trust, and worked as a research assistant for the Colby Environmental Science Department.
