Women's soccer falls in tight league contest

Box Score

CLINTON, N.Y. — Catherine Fraser tied the game in the second half for Colby College, but Hamilton College scored with just 9:44 left to pull out a 2-1 win in NESCAC women's soccer Saturday.

The Mules (4-9-1 overall, 0-8-1 NESCAC) wrap up the season Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Bates College.

The Continentals used a long ball from outside the box to Katie Kreider, who scored at 22:58 of the opening half.

Samantha Turbeville set up Colby's goal just 29 seconds into the second half. She took a long pass, slipped a defender, and found Fraser for the score.
Darby Philbrick was in the right place at the right time for Hamilton's game-winning goal. A long cross had Colby goalkeeper Samantha Rizzo off-balance as she fell to the ground and the ball became loose. Philbrick was standing in the right spot and put the ball into the left corner of the net.
Rizzo finished with three saves and Hamilton keeper Rachel Cooley had two stops.
