Men's soccer takes non-league victory over UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Jeff Rosenberg scored in the first half and Lucas Pereira added an insurance goal in the second half for the Colby College men's soccer team in a 2-0 win at University of New England on Tuesday.

Dan Vogel continued his mastery on restart kicks with an assist on the first goal. Vogel sent in a long free kick from the right sideline that Rosenberg one-timed from in the front of the goal in the 27th minute.
 
Colby (3-6-2 overall) added an insurance goal early in the second half when Pereira converted a rebound off a saved shot by Grady Jendzejec. Rosenburg had started Jendzejec's scoring opportunity with a pass from the left side of the goal.
The Mules controlled play for much of the match to take a 17-4 advantage in shots and 10-2 margin in corner kicks. Goalkeeper John Pappas needed a pair of saves to record the shutout.
 

Elijah Leverett and Jake Rostkowski split time in goal for UNE (2-11) and combined to make five stops.

Colby will entertain second-ranked Amherst College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
