Stew Stokes

Stew Stokes is entering his 25th year at Colby in the 2024-25 academic year. Since his arrival the women's crew program won the College's only NCAA Championship in a team sport by claiming the 2003 Division III title along with three other appearances at the NCAA Championship, and the men became the first crew from Colby to win an international race at the Henley Royal Regatta in 2005 against Isis Boat Club.

In the 2025 spring season, Stokes led the Men's Crew team to a spot in the IRA National Championship where the Men's Second Varsity Crew took home the bronze medal.

Colby has also produced 18 first or second team All-Americans Awards and four U.S. National Team athletes.

Prior to his arrival at Colby, Stokes coached at Trinity College and the University of Massachusetts. A 1990 graduated of the University of Massachusetts, Stokes was a four-time winner of the Head of the Charles Regatta, a four-time U.S. National Champion, and a member of the men's lightweight eight on the 1993 United States Rowing Team.
