Mikey Coppersmith joined the Colby Men's Basketball staff to start the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach.
Coppersmith comes to Colby from the University of Southern Maine where he helped the Huskies to a thirty-year best 16 wins in the 2022-2023 season. That year, he coached two All-Conference players for the Huskies.
Prior to Coppersmith's time at Southern Maine, he served as an assistant coach at the University of Maine at Farmington. Coppersmith’s lead responsibilities at UMF were to lead player development and assist in recruiting the next class of high-level student-athletes to the UMF men’s basketball program.
In Coppersmith’s one season at Maine-Farmington the Beavers posted a Maine Division III best 14-7 overall record in the 2021-2022 season. He contributed in coaching two All-Conference players for the Beavers.
Before making the jump to college coaching, Coppersmith worked under Travis Seaver at Greely High School as a Varsity assistant coach and the head coach of the first-team.
Coppersmith graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor's in Communications while also minoring in Race and Ethnic Studies. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Leadership Studies.
