Johnny McElaney

Former Colby Men's Ice Hockey student-athlete Johnny McElaney '24 rejoined the program as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 academic year. In his four year career with the Mules, McElaney served as a two-year captain earning All-NESCAC Second Team, AHCA Academic All-Star, NESCAC All-Academic, and NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship honors. He graduated from Colby with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a minor in Economics

After Colby, McElaney earned his Master’s Degree in Management from Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business, where he also played for the Babson Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Following his graduation, he worked as a private skills coach for professional and college players and co-founded McElaney Hockey Skills.
