Haley Thier joined the Colby College Swimming & Diving coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season after a standout collegiate career as a student-athlete. Competing at Calvin University before transferring to Denison University, Thier made an immediate impact in the pool as a first-year, capturing the 2022 MIAA Conference title in the 200 breaststroke. She went on to be a two-time All-MIAA selection (2022, 2023), set two varsity relay records, and earned recognition as a CSCAA Scholar All-American in both 2022 and 2023 for her excellence in the classroom and the pool. Thier was also named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national scholar-athlete honor society.
In addition to her athletic success, Thier brings experience coaching at the club and high school levels in Pennsylvania and Michigan. She emphasizes athlete-centered development and holistic growth, a philosophy shaped in part by her father’s coaching legacy and her own path as a student-athlete. At Colby, Thier looks forward to supporting the team’s pursuit of excellence while contributing to the program’s culture of trust, empathy, and growth.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Colby Swimming & Diving program. The team’s energy, culture, and commitment to one another make this a special environment, and I am excited to contribute to the continued success of such a dedicated group of student-athletes.”
