Brianna Thomas, a native of Ajax, Canada, joined the Colby Women's Basketball staff in the summer of 2021 after serving as a Graduate Assistant for Boston College during the 2020-2021 season. While at the Heights, she worked closely with coaches and assisted post-player and small forward development.
In 2019-2020 as an assistant coach for Merrimack College, Thomas was responsible for daily operations, film breakdown, scouting reports and player development. She worked closely with Denia Davis-Stewart, who finished her senior season as the NEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Davis-Stewart posted 23 double-doubles, along with setting a new single-season conference record with 121 blocks on the season.
Prior to her time with the Warriors, Thomas was on staff at Duquesne University, where she also played collegiately for four years. She was responsible as a Graduate Assistant for film exchange, and assisting with on-campus recruiting.
As a player, Thomas was a two-time team captain and helped the Dukes advance to the 2016 NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. She graduated from Duquesne in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Leadership in 2019. Thomas gained her second Master's degree from Boston College in Sports Administration.
“I'm excited to officially welcome Brianna to Mayflower Hill,” said Chenel Harris-Smith, head women's basketball coach at Colby College. “Her passion for developing leaders, empowering young women, coupled with her professional experience will help to enrich our student-athlete experience.”
