Following 25 years in Colby's Athletic Department as head coach of the volleyball program, Candice Parent has been named Colby's first Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Community Engagement.

Parent helped the Mules to four straight 20-plus win seasons from 2002 to 2005, including a 37-4 record and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament Final Eight in 2005.  She was named NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005 and reached a milestone in the 2012-13 season, earning her 300th career victory at Colby.

In 1997 and 2001 her colleagues selected her as the Maine State Coach of the Year. In December 1999 Parent was selected as the female recipient of the Rick Pierce Award, a regional award based on sportsmanship, competitiveness, and volunteerism given out annually by the Yankee Volleyball Association. Parent continues to play volleyball at the highest-level tournaments in New England through the USA Volleyball Association and each year she participates in the USA Volleyball Nationals at various sites across the country.

Parent is a graduate of University of Maine at Farmington and was inducted into the Beavers' Hall of Fame in 2010.  She and her husband, Mark, are the parents of five children -- Emily, Matthew, Daniel, Ryan, and Lydia.
