Biography

BEFORE COLBY

Emily graduated from Longmeadow High School where she was a member of the cross country and track teams. She was a First Honors Student, and the recipient of the President's Award for Academic Excellence, the Latin Scholarship, and the Excellence in English Award.

AT COLBY 

Emily has a double major in Biology (Neuroscience concentration) and Psychology, with a minor in German. She is also a member of the Colby Volunteer Club and the Colby Outing Club.

2017 outdoor season highlights: Emily was 16th in the 5,000 meters at the Aloha Relays and was 19th in the 1,500 at the Bowdoin Invitational. She was on the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team.

2017 indoor season highlights: Valencia competed in the 400 meters and the mile. She was named to the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.

2016 outdoor track season highlights: Valencia started the outdoor season at the Bowdoin Invitational with a third-place finish and personal best of 19:55.25 in the 5,000 meters. At the Colby Open, Emily raced to a 10th-place finish and personal best of 5:31.50 in the 1,500 meters. Emily closed out her first year at the Aloha Relays with a ninth in the 5,000 meters.

2016 indoor track season highlights: Valencia competed in the 3,000 meters in the winter season, finishing third at the Bates Invitational and ninth at the Maine State Championships.

2015 cross country season highlights: Valencia took 16th in the Bates first-year/sophomore Race, 35th at the Bowdoin Invitational, and 51st at the Maine State Championships.
